Hurghada
Hurghada was a small fishing village, since the 1980s has increased in size by Egyptian and foreign investors becoming the leading coastal resort on the Red Sea. Hurghada’s major industry is foreign and domestic tourism. It’s waters are clear and calm for most of the year and have become popular for scuba diving, snorkelling, sailboarding, yachting and water sports, also nightlife and the warm weather with daily temperature around 30 decC (86 degF) most of the year
The fish market (Hallaqat El-Samak) is heritage to the locals, a place that tells the city’s history and where you can see the local culture. It shows the actual fish sellers, anglers, local buyers, and tourists from a wide range of nationalities, an excellent shopping venue for a great local experience. It offers an extensive assortment of fresh local fish and other products of the sea. The fish market lies next to a workshop that makes boats and the old harbour mosque

- the Marina – see the yachts/boats, the lifestyle in this area and after 20.00pm the local restaurants and cafes offer entertainment, karaoke, music, singing & dancing
- the fish market – fresh fish that boats bring daily from the Red Sea can be bought fresh by individuals or sold to the shops/restaurants. You can buy & eat fresh shrimp (grilled/fried) at a good price
- El Mina Grand Mosque – enter the mosque, women are given a veil and characteristic Islamic dress to wear in the mosque. Take souvenir photos, Islam and Egyptian culture is explained and observe how people pray in the mosque
- boat building yard – visit the place of construction, production and maintenance of boats and yachts. See how these boats are built
- the Old Town – sit in the Baladi Café and sip authentic Egyptian coffee and smoke shisha – flavoured with mint, watermelon and fruits. Tour of the old town – learn of it’s features and get a kofta sandwich on the grill
- fruit and vegetable market – buy all kinds of fruits and vegetables, pigeons, ducks and fresh meat
- the local Egyptian bread bakery – observe the way it is made and cooked
- Bamboo Juice juicer – drink fresh sugarcane juice, and learn how to squeeze cane in the juice machine … squeeze the cane it’s a pleasant experience
- the church – get acquainted with the rites of Christians in Hurghada, their customs and traditions mixed with the culture of the East and ancient Egypt
